To manage the stress in our busy lives we all tend to compartmentalise all the different parts. We focus on strengthening relationships, building career, improving our health or developing connection with soul for greater inner meaning in isolation. And we plough all our energy and focus into that one particular area of our life, while overlooking the rest.
But the most powerful lesson I learned as a wholistic health practitioner was that we can’t separate any one area of our life experience from all the others.
Mind, body and soul are all entwined so it’s impossible to separate them. When one area is out of balance ALL areas are out of balance. Equally, to nourish one level is to nourish ALL levels.
I visualise this entwining of different parts of ourselves and our life areas like this: Imagine a pile of rich compost full of squirming garden worms, all twisted up together. We can’t fix just one tiny worm without affecting the other worms who are tangled up together. Similarly, to develop and heal one part of our life it’s vital to work on all the multitude of different areas of our life experience at the same time.
