“Letting go gives us freedom,
and freedom is the only condition for happiness”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Holding onto anger at another person is like you drinking poison and expecting them to die.
Holding anger without a useful outlet can block your creativity, reduce your energy, and increase your stress—not a great recipe for success.
If you find yourself holding onto anger, try these 3 ways to let it go and move on.
- Have a conversation that matters. The person may not even have any idea about how you’re feeling.
- Question assumptions you’re making. Are you judging the other person’s behaviour? The reason driving their behaviour may not actually be what you’ve assumed. Their true intention may not even make you angry.
- Let it go. In the bigger picture how important is this thing you’re angry about really? Maybe it’s time to let it go and focus on something that boosts your energy, rather than draining it.
