A hearty laugh or a shared chuckle reduces stress, takes away tension and turns your frown upside down.
Studies show that adults only laugh an average of 17 times per day whereas kids laugh more than 100 times each day.
These are a few of the many benefits gained from laughter:
☺ It relaxes the whole body; a good hearty laugh has been said to leave the body relaxed for 45 minutes.
☺ It boosts the immune system.
☺ It triggers the release of endorphins; these are the feel-good hormones which also relieve pain.
☺ It protects the heart by improving the function of blood vessels and blood flow.
☺ It reduces stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.
☺ It increases memory and learning. At John Hopkins University they found that laughter during exam instructions led to higher test scores.
☺ Laughing increases alertness, creativity and memory.
