The average woman wears nearly 515 chemicals a day!
Not all are highly dangerous, but many are.
Develop the habit of reading ingredient lists and avoid the worst. Start by checking out the amazing organic cosmetic, skin and hair care ranges that avoid using toxic chemicals. The quality and choice is constantly growing.
✦ Cosmetics are generally really bad for you as they sit on your skin all day, so you absorb the toxins for a long period!
✦ Skin care products do the same. Plus, if you wear cream at night you’ll also absorb the chemicals as you sleep.
✦ Hair products are dangerous because your skin absorbs MORE of the toxins in a product through areas covered with hair.
You wouldn’t choose to sit somewhere that’s covered in toxic chemicals so why choose
to leave it sitting on your skin in the products you use
Some of the most dangerous ingredients you want to avoid are:
- Toulene: petroleum by-product in nail polishes and cosmetics
- Synthetic formaldehyde: a Volatile Organic Compound, highly toxic in nail polish and hair relaxer
- Aluminium: in everything from antiperspirants to nasal spray and shampoo.
- Parabens: synthetic preservatives in cosmetics, personal care products, even baby lotion
- Sodium Lauryl Sulphate: the foam in shampoo, liquid soap and toothpaste.
- Synthetic Fragrance: petrochemical-based oils found in soap, lotion, shampoo, deodorant, conditioner and perfume and disrupt hormones
Be vigilant about reading ingredient labels in the same way you would when looking for additives in your food.
